Olivia Management Artists and Authors

At Olivia Management, we have many brilliant Americana artists who write and put out amazing music, but did you know that many of our artists have also released books as well?

Saved by a Song: The Art and Healing Power of Songwriting - Mary Gauthier
Mary pulls back the curtain and lets readers see behind the scenes of what it’s like to be a songwriter, shares her thoughts and stories, and so much more. Saved by a Song was released in July of 2021 and was called a “magnificent must-read” by Rolling Stones.
Not only is Saved by a Song available online, you can also listen to Mary read it herself on Audible.

Thirties: The Album in Portrait and Prose Book - Jill Andrews
In this portrait and prose book, Jill shares deeper insight into her thirties, sharing more than she felt she could in three-minute songs. Through beautiful, lyrical prose and artistic photography, Jill captures life experiences spanning from the joys of motherhood to isolation. You can purchase your very own copy on her website now.

The Ringing Bell - Derek Webb
This graphic novel by Derek and designer Chris Koelle explores the concept of peace in this day and age. Derek confessed that “beautiful art sometimes manages to sway my heart from vice to virtue.” Available on Derek’s website, this is a piece you don’t want to miss.

Of course we are thrilled to support some of our other favorite artists in this year’s lineup, so I asked each staff member who they are most excited to see perform outside of the artists we work with.

Olivia Management’s manager, founder, and CEO, Erin Anderson, is most excited to see The Secret Sisters, Mipso, and Bahamas.

Mackenzie Fey, Olivia Management’s manager, touring, and marketing coordinator is most excited to see Sarah Jarosz, Bahamas and OM artist Sam Johnston. Evan Gilbreath, one of Olivia Management’s summer 2023 intern, is also looking forward to seeing Sarah Jarosz perform.

Maddy Hicks, Olivia Management’s marketing and logistics assistant is most excited to see Jaimee Harris.

Lastly, Grace Carey-Hill, Olivia Management’s touring and marketing assistant, is most excited to see Mary Bragg perform.

Below is a list of the full lineup for 2023. We hope to see you there!

Intern Wrap Up: Finishing the Semester Strong

By Emma Martin

I can’t believe this semester is over! I have had so much fun interning at Olivia Management these past few months and have learned so much. Working with everyone at the company has been such an honor and a great learning experience. This was my first internship and I couldn’t have asked for a better company to begin my journey at.

What I Have Learned

One thing I have learned is that there are a ton of moving parts when it comes to managing artists, but the hard work is worth it. My favorite thing about this internship was working with everyone on releasing Jill Andrew’s album, “Thirties”. I loved seeing the beginning stages of marketing, press, planning her tour and then watching the album go out into the world. I think there’s something truly rewarding about starting a project from the beginning and then seeing the finished product be successful. I have learned so much about myself and how passionate I am about the projects I work on, especially when it’s for this lovely company.

Future Goals

I am so grateful that I am going to be interning here this summer! Hoping this summer brings new lessons that I will continue to learn more about scheduling tours, album press, marketing, and helping artists stay connected with their fans during this time of uncertainty.

Shoutout to the Olivia Management team

This company and everyone here have allowed me to grow in ways I never thought I could and I can’t thank them enough for their support. I will take everything you all have taught me and remember it for future internships, jobs and just life in general. Erin, Maggie, and Mackenzie THANK YOU for everything you have done for me. Looking forward to continuing my experience here this summer!

Happy 8th Birthday Olivia Management!

Eight years ago today, Erin Anderson founded her artist management company Olivia Management! The company has come a long way from when it first started, and it has grown so much over the years. Since she has started the company, she has helped grow the careers of many artists and left her mark in this corner of the music industry.

An article by Forbes says that about 80% of small businesses fail and about only half of them survive past 5 years. Olivia Management has made it to its 8th birthday and that is something to celebrate! Our current roster is something to be proud of, and Erin has cultivated a crew of good humans that make great music.

In the past year, multiple artists have released new albums.  Jill Andrews released her album Thirties, successfully ran a weeks worth of live streams spanning her entire catalog, and plans to go on tour in support of her new record in the fall of this year. Ruthie Collins, signed to Curb Records, just released her new album Cold Comfort to much critical acclaim, including mentions from Billboard and American Songwriter. Derek Webb released his album Targets in February, and has run several different series of online shows, as well as launched a Patreon. Smooth Hound Smith released their album Dog in a Manger in the summer of 2019 and just finished an incredibly fruitful European tour that wrapped up right before the pandemic hit. Hush Kids’ highlight of the past year was hitting the road for their first tour, which ended with an invite to perform on the Cayamo cruise this past February. It has been a very busy, but successful, year at Olivia Management.

When asking Erin about her proudest accomplishments in the past 8 years of Olivia Management, she responded:

“I would have to say having an artist nominated for a Grammy or having an artist play the Ryman and Red Rocks, or having an artist win an Americana Award (because all of those things were highlights for SURE), but honestly, it’s that I’ve gotten to be a part of so many amazing records. Especially right now, when music is so important to us all to get through this time, I am so proud of the music we’ve helped bring into the world.”

Here’s to 8 more years of success and 8 more after that!

Supporting Artists During Social Distancing

I believe we all can agree that this is a really strange time in the world and people are leaning on each other now more than ever (6 feet apart though, please!). As we enter further into unprecedented events, our musicians, music industry professionals, and many other industries are getting hit pretty hard right now. There’s no time like the present to support our favorite artists and those who help make it all happen right from your own couch in quarantine! Keep reading to see how you can help.

Watch Online Concerts

Whenever I go on social media there is always an artist doing an Instagram, Facebook or YouTube live. This is such a great way to see the show you might have missed. It’s not the same experience, but it’s still a great way for us to interact with artists and enjoy live acoustic/full band concerts from your couch! Take our very own artists for example!

Jill Andrews

This week, Jill has decided to play four shows each night. She’s covering her entire catalog! It’s been so long since we’ve heard some of these and couldn’t be more thrilled. Each show is leading up to this Friday, the release day of her album “Thirties” where she’ll be performing the new trackless online! She is asking for a suggested donation of $15 for each of these shows ( PayPal & Venmo details will be up on show days), but pay only what you can give! This is a time to protect the simpler moments in life. Tune in with us via her YouTube channel!

Smooth Hound Smith

This Monday, March 30th at 5pm CST, Smooth Hound Smith is going live on their Facebook page only. They’ll be playing just as they used to: as a duo! They’ll be cranking some new songs, old, and many some covers. Check it out for a great evening in the comfort of your own home and from a safe (social) distance away. This show will be a “pay what you can’ via their Venmo and PayPal made available on the day of the show if you would like to help support them financially. Will we see you there?

Derek Webb

Join Derek online for his “End of the World Online Tour” this April 7, 10, 14, 19 & 21.⁣ 5 shows, $10 tickets, 20 tickets per show.⁣ Thank goodness, honestly. Grab the family and gather around any device for an unforgettable performance all in HD. If you can’t make any of these dates, don’t worry! They’ll be around for awhile for you to watch at your leisure. Grab your tix here!

Listen to some playlists, or make your own!

Help boost their streams by making playlists with your favorite artists’ music and share them on social media. This is a perfect time to discover new artists or revisit your old faves. Here are a few links to my personal favorites right now!

Snag some merch

Have you ever really wanted that new band t-shirt they had on tour, but didn’t want to wait in the line to get one? Well what if I told you that I know somewhere where there were no lines and it would be delivered to your front door? Well, yeah you’ll have to get up off the couch, but hey, it’s worth it. Go and head over to your favorite band’s website and order that t-shirt you’ve always wanted, or maybe gift a friend who could use a little pick-me up and order them a CD or vinyl of your favorite album! Who doesn’t love that new merch feeling? Head over to our main webpage to click on any of our artists and take a look at everything they’re selling.

Send them a message!

Let them know that you are still there for them and that you enjoy listening to their music! Artists love interacting with their fans online and connecting with them so drop a kind comment on their post.

Get Creative (we’ve got the time)

Make art out lyrics or interpretation of album covers, come up with a new dance to one of your favorite artists’ songs on TikTok, cover their songs on Instagram, the list could go on and on! Keep supporting creators and each other during this crazy time and have some fun with it! I can guarantee all your followers will appreciate it.
