A Glimpse Into My Day as an Intern
Hi! This is me, Mikayla, a current intern this summer at Olivia Management!
When people ask what a typical day at Olivia Management looks like as an intern, the honest answer is: it depends!
No two days are exactly the same. Each day brings new tasks based on the needs of our artists and the company, mixed with semester-long projects assigned to each intern based on our individual interests. This variety keeps every day interesting and has given me the opportunity to gain experience in many different areas of artist management. For example, my semester-long projects include running the social media for the official OM pages, sending a weekly industry news report to the team in the office, and doing a weekly check of Artist Growth, which is where we store all events related to our artists and any information for those events that they might need.
So, what does the actual day look like?
My dashboard on Asana
My day at Olivia Management starts at 9:00 a.m. Once I log in, I hop on Slack, say hello in the general channel, and let the team know I'm online. From there, my first stop is the Intern Tasks channel, where the day-to-day assignments are posted. These tasks are often time-sensitive, so they take priority over my semester-long projects. These tasks usually include things like drafting show reminder emails, adding shows to our wall calendar, or researching things in relation to our artists/company operations.
After checking all Slack channels and not seeing any intern-specific tasks, I head over to Asana to review my assigned projects for the day. This is where I keep track of my semester-long tasks, deadlines, and any ongoing projects I'm working on.
Around noon, I usually take a lunch break with my fellow interns, which is a fun time for us to catch up. This time, as well as the collaborative office space, has allowed us to craft meaningful friendships.
In the afternoon, if my semester tasks are completed, it’s time to go back to the Intern Tasks channel and let the team know that I am open to tasks. They will usually write something up for us to get done in our remaining time in the office for the day.
Once it hits 4 pm, I am done with my day at Oliva Management, and I message the main Slack channel that I am out for the day!
As one of my social media posts, I made a day in the life video to post to the Olivia Management reels page. It showcases the collaborative office space and the members of the incredible full-time team. You can view this video linked to the left!
If this at all seems interesting to you, you can click here to apply! This internship is a unique experience where the interns have been able to directly observe and contribute to the operations of an artist management company. While the application window for Fall of 2026 has closed, you can still apply and be considered for future semesters.
