The most exciting part of the year is coming up for all of us here at Olivia Management: AMERICANAFEST is next week!
Americanafest is a great opportunity to see many live performances of folk and Americana music. This year, Olivia Management will be celebrating our 6th annual Americanafest showcase(s).
In honor of that, we created a playlist featuring some of the talented artists performing next week!
I listened through the playlist myself, and I am particularly looking forward to hearing Alcohol and Adderall, Queer Kid, and Won’t Go Back next week.
Alcohol and Adderall by Mary Gauthier delves into the harsh reality of loving someone who is stuck in a cycle of self-destruction. The emotion in her delivery of the song speaks to me so much, and I am excited to hear that be recreated in a live setting.
Queer Kid by Derek Webb is another song that I think will be a standout performance. Derek’s writing puts a heavy focus on real-world issues, and this song in particular talks about the feeling of unsafety that queer youth faces. That topic is not only very relevant to the current political climate, but also calls attention to some of the less recognized voices in Americana music.
Lastly, I think I will particularly enjoy seeing Won’t Go Back by Katie Callahan. This song is all about moving forward and choosing to be hopeful, even through major life shifts. This is a sentiment I really resonate with, as I think so many people can.
