As an intern at Olivia Management, a boutique artist management company that moves at a fast pace, I balance artist schedules, promotional deadlines, and internal projects with my team. Our secret to keeping it all together is Asana, an organizational task manager. With its clean, user-friendly design and high functionality, it simplifies workflows, boosts productivity, and makes me feel like I'm managing my own mini campaigns. Here are some of our favorite Asana feature.
Seamless Task Management
Asana's intuitive interface makes it easy for me to create, reassign, and prioritize my tasks quickly. No matter if we’re preparing for an artist show, drafting a newsletter, or coordinating tour information, we can easily organize tasks, assign deadlines, and establish dependencies. Being able to assign priorities keeps me on track by ensuring that high-priority tasks stay top of mind.
For instance, in preparing for future shows, Asana's calendar feature gives the ability to view every moving piece. Having this visibility is invaluable. We also use the templates feature to create a list of tasks every time we confirm a new show for one of our artists, allowing us to focus on time-sensitive responsibilities rather than creating a new set of tasks for every show.
Automation and Integration
Asana also integrates perfectly with tools we utilize every day, like Slack (our communication platform) and our Google Calendar. These integrations streamline and accelerate our workflow, avoiding time-wasting tab juggling.
Mobile Accessibility
Whether I'm on my way to a show, grabbing food, or a coffee, Asana's mobile app keeps me updated. I can view tasks, update status, and coordinate with other interns or the team so I can stay productive on the move.
Tracking Progress and Impact
Asana gives me stats and checklists that make it easy to demonstrate my value. I can see my progress, look at due dates, and see the context of every task. It makes me begin and conclude each day with a clear idea of where I am, which makes me more efficient, consistent, and visibly valuable to the team.
Why Asana Matters
For music management or any creative field, Asana is a lifesaver. If you don't use it, I would recommend adding Asana to your arsenal. For us, it's not just a tool; it's how we stay on top of things, make valuable contributions, and move quicker during those high-pressure situations.
